Position summary: 

Washington State University Vancouver invites applications for a non-tenure-track position beginning August 16, 2019. A master’s degree in Computer Science or related field by the employment start date is required, however a Ph.D. is preferred. College-level teaching experience is highly preferred.

Primary responsibility is to teach and develop undergraduate courses in computer science including the following areas: theory, operating systems, distributed systems, graphics, architecture and/or cloud/mobile computing. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in graduate education. Candidates with experience in application programming and Linux/Unix programming tools is required. Other responsibilities include holding office hours, advising, conducting course assessments, service contributions such as on committees and contributing to our campus diversity goals (e.g. incorporate issues of diversity into mentoring, curriculum, or service).

WSU Vancouver serves about 3,600 graduate and undergraduate students and is fifteen miles north of Portland, Oregon. The School of Engineering and Computer Science (ENCS) is rapidly growing. WSU is Washington’s land grant university with faculty and programs on four campuses. For more information:

Minimum requirements: 

MS in Computer Science or related field; 
experience in application programming and Linux/Unix programming tools.

Preferred qualifications: 

Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field;

College level teaching experience; teaching interest in at least two areas of: theory, operating systems, distributed systems, graphics, architecture or cloud/mobile computing;

Industry experience; 

ABET accreditation experience.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
