The Diversity Council seeks proposals for its Diversity Mini Grants for activities that address and support the strategic plan’s goals and its objectives. Goal four of the new strategic plan is to promote an ethical and socially just society through an intentional commitment to inclusion, equity and diversity. The Diversity Council is now accepting grant proposals that in some manner address this goal. We will accept proposals for grants up to $10,000. Awards will be determined on the basis of application of the strategic plan and its objectives and the positive impact on the WSU Vancouver campus and wider community.
Strategic Plan objectives for goal four:
- Ensure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all student populations, including equal retention and graduation rates across demographic groups.
- Infuse equity-mindedness throughout the fabric of the campus structure and create capacity to work toward equity in all aspects of campus endeavors.
- Build and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students and employees.
Proposals must include a one-page detailed description of the plan, budget, and expected time of presentation. Proposals focusing on long term impacts to the WSU Vancouver learning community and/or the Clark County community and vicinity will be given preference.
The budget must include all expenses including, but not limited to: speaker fees, travel expenses, student assistants, purchase of materials and advertising. The Council suggests an advertising budget of $100 to $200 to increase proportionally with the grant amount being requested. Proposals lacking a detailed budget will not be considered. Award funds must be expended by June 30, 2019. Grantees must submit a one-page report on the Grant Outcomes by June 30, 2019. Grant proposals are open to faculty, students, and staff at WSU Vancouver.
