Transfer students new to WSU are assigned an academic coordinator based on their choice in major as well as the credits they are bringing in from their other institution(s). Each department has their own set of advising requirements when meeting with students in the major. Students undecided in a major will meet with an ELCA academic coordinator.
The majority of incoming freshmen starting during fall semester are advised during Orientation, unless they have enough qualifying credit to be advised early. Most freshmen are initially advised through the Engaged Learning and Career Action Center for Students (ELCA) and move to a department academic coordinator at a later date.
