Employee Commute Trip Reduction Campaigns
WSU Vancouver participates in several Clark County and WA State campaigns in an effort to reduce our employee drive alone work commutes to campus. Some employee campaigns are ongoing, year round, and others are held at set times throughout the year. If you are a WSU Vancouver employee who is interested in participating in these campaigns, please visit the links provided below for more information. For additional assistance, please email Katrina Long with WSU Vancouver Public Safety & Parking Services at katrina_long@vancouver.wsu.edu.
Wheel Options (Fall Campaign - 2012)
To participate in Wheel Options you need only walk, bicycle, share a ride, or ride the bus to work two or more days during the two week campaign. Campaigns are held twice a year. You can also participate by compressing your work schedule or working from home.
For rideshare options, check out the new Clark County website at www.RideShareOnline.com to find a carpool partner or join someone else’s rideshare arrangement. With your new carpool or vanpool, you’ll be all set to participate in the next Wheel Options campaign and have a chance to win one of many great prizes.
To become eligible for the prizes above, you must log at least two alternative commute trips during the campaign online at www.WheelOptions.org.
For more information, contact Katrina Long at katrina_long@vancouver.wsu.edu.
Drive Less/Save More (Ongoing)
The Drive Less/Save More Campaign is a SW Washington/Portland Metro regional ongoing campaign encouraging citizens to reduce the number of trips they make during the week to help reduce congestion in our area. The Drive Less/Save More Campaign seeks to increase awareness of the benefits of reducing single-person car trips.
You can log on to the Drive Less/Save More Campaign and pledge to reduce the number of single occupant vehicle trips you make and enter to win prizes from a monthly drawing. Visit the website for handy transportation options and how-to videos.
Smart Commuter (Ongoing)
Whether you work in Clark County or live in Southwest Washingon and work in the Portland Metro area you can be a part of the Smart Commuter campaign.
When you first log on to the Commute Tracker, you will be walked through a quick registration. Once you are signed up, you only need to register your daily commute and get ready to start reaping the rewards.
A prize drawing is held each quarter and the names of three people who have used an alternative commute to work are randomly drawn. The number of times you take an alternative to driving alone will determine the prize for which you qualify.

The Bike Commute Challenge is a friendly competition — workplace against workplace — with benefits for both companies and individual cyclists when employees bike to work during the month of September. The workplaces with the highest percentage of commutes by bicycle during the month win! For the September 2011 Bike to Work Challenge, visit http://bikecommutechallenge.com/.
