Chancellor's Award for Staff Excellence

The Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence was created to recognize and salute the dedication and commitment of a staff member in advancing the mission of WSU Vancouver. Award criteria includes active participation in campus activities, excellent performance in the staff member's own role, demonstrated leadership on behalf of WSU Vancouver and going the "extra mile" to advance WSU Vancouver.

Barb Krahn

Barb KrahnBarb Krahn, facilities and operations, has won the 2010/2011 Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence. The announcement was made at Convocation last Thursday. Barb was recognized for “leading by extraordinary example” according to Lynn Valenter, interim chancellor.

Barb is always looking to do the very best job and worries aloud that some detail will be missed because having fewer colleagues puts more pressure on her team to work faster and accomplish more every day.

In recent years Barb has had extraordinary medical challenges to overcome within her own family—including her own health issues. Throughout it all, she has maintained her dedication to the campus and to her work.

“She has incredible perseverance and not only puts her best effort into every detail of her job, but also goes the extra mile for others,” said Lynn.

Each summer staff members are nominated by their colleagues for the Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence. The winner is selected by a committee.
