Gender Equality
Women make up 57.5% of WSU Vancouver’s student population.
The Women's Studies program at WSU Vancouver is an interdisciplinary field that places gender at the center of inquiry, considering the ways that class, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, age and ability shape the human experience. This program can be used as a minor concentration for either the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities or the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences.
The Women’s Empowerment Coalition, a student club, has been very active on our campus. During the 2010 Spring Semester, WEC organized the conference Women in Art, Academica, and Community which featured presentations by WSU Vancouver students, faculty, and several invited guests, including local feminist activist and midwife Hope Medford and writers Cherry Muhanji and Toni Partington.
