Academic Affairs is the largest division at WSU Vancouver. Academic Affairs supports the mission of WSU Vancouver by providing high-quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs, advancing research, scholarship and creative activity and advancing diversity on the campus. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is responsible for faculty affairs, support of faculty governance, academic planning, policies and procedures.

Led by Dr. Renny Christopher, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Office supports the work of faculty and students toward the achievement of their academic and professional goals.

Research, graduate education, grants and community partnerships

Dr. Robert Bates, Director of Research and Graduate Education and Provost Emeritus, is responsible for advancing and promoting faculty research; supporting reviewing grant proposal development in collaboration with the office of Grants and Contracts; promoting graduate education; and the development of community partnerships and engagement to support research and technology transfer.

Development, academics and assessment

Dr. Tahira Probst, Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, is responsible for curriculum development and review; academic and program assessment; advancing undergraduate research; and special initiatives related to students and curricula (such as the University Scholars Honors Program).

Blended and networked learning

Michael Caulfield supports faculty who want to incorporate greater use of technology to enhance student learning or to leverage the resources of the Internet in their classes.

Special projects, research and support

Wendy Niehaus serves as Principal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor.

Holly Davis is the Program and Project Coordinator, working with the Academic Affairs faculty and staff on special projects, research programs and event support.
